Natalie “Nadya” Suleman, famously known as “Octomom,” is reflecting on her past plastic surgery decisions, and particularly one she now considers a “poor decision.”
On the March 31 episode of Confessions of Octomom on Lifetime, Suleman shared her regret over a lip filler procedure she underwent in 2008, which she says was a mistake that led to media frenzy.
Suleman revealed that, at the time, she was feeling insecure and, as a matter of fact, made the decision to have temporary filler injections in her upper lip to match the size of her lower lip.
“I was young, dumb, and immature,” she admitted. “We all have moments when we’re insecure, but looking back, I should never have touched my lips.”
The procedure, however, didn’t go as planned, and Suleman recalls how it ended up creating an undesirable result. “Unfortunately, he had a different goal in mind, and he clearly made a big mess,” she explained.
As a matter of fact, the procedure became a media spectacle, with outlets suggesting that she was trying to look like Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie.
Suleman explained that while she was criticized for wanting to resemble Jolie, this was far from her intention. “I’m not superficial,” she said. “I never wanted to look like her.”
Suleman’s lip fillers became her most prominent plastic surgery controversy, but she also opened up about other procedures she underwent, including a breast augmentation in 2003 and a tummy tuck several months after giving birth to her octuplets in 2008.
While these surgeries were decisions she felt more at peace with, the lip filler remains her biggest regret, and she wishes it had not been blown out of proportion.
In 2016, Suleman also admitted to her dissatisfaction with her lip fillers in an interview with Daily Mail, stating, “It looked horrible. I was so embarrassed and ashamed.”
Now, years later, she’s speaking out about her experiences, encouraging her daughters to avoid plastic surgery and embrace their natural beauty.
